Roofing and Waterproofing Integrity Testing

GRG’s family of companies helps protect commercial and industrial buildings with smart, reliable leak detection and roof monitoring solutions. Using innovative technology, we make it easy to spot and track potential roof issues early, giving property owners peace of mind and confidence in their building’s protection.

Leak Detection Systems

Our teams are the only personnel certified and trained in performing Electronic Field Vector Mapping (EFVM) which is the standard for waterproofing verification.

Conductive Medium

Our teams sell and distribute Conductive Mediums which are used to enable the EFVM process. We sell vector mapping grid (VMG), mesh (VMM) or felt (VMF).

Smart Roof Monitoring Systems

Our teams offer three different premium roof monitoring systems which provide 24/7 monitoring of roofs and contact users when there is a breach detected.

  • The LiUNA Local 183 Corporate Office in Toronto presented a unique and large-scale waterproofing testing project, covering approximately 117,324 square feet across a variety of membrane systems. The work was completed in collaboration with Flynn, an ILD international house account, which maintains offices throughout all Canadian provinces and 12 U.S. states. One of the primary challenges on this project was accessing and testing steeply sloped areas, which required careful planning and execution.

  • Located in Chicago’s Millennium Park, “The Bean” is one of the city’s most iconic sculptures, drawing an estimated 13 million visitors annually. In 2024, the ILD team provided testing services for approximately 33,000 square feet of hot rubber waterproofing membrane installed beneath the surrounding plaza. The waterproofing was completed by one of ILD’s longest-standing Chicago clients, with whom they’ve partnered since 2004. Testing was conducted over four site visits between February and June 2024 to ensure the integrity of the installation in this high-profile, heavily trafficked public space.

  • The San Luis II Border Station in Arizona serves as a critical first line of defense along the southern U.S. border—and presented unique environmental challenges during our waterproofing testing. The project involved testing approximately 30,500 square feet of single-ply membrane under intense desert heat. Maintaining adequate surface moisture for testing while ensuring ILD technicians stayed safe and hydrated was a key concern throughout the process. Despite the demanding conditions, the team delivered thorough and reliable results to support the integrity of this essential federal facility.
